When I started learning English with James my speaking skills were so poor, that I asked him to work on General English instead of Marketing. I felt very uncomfortable while speaking. Months were passing by, James was providing me with such complex topics, which I almost never speak about in Russian. I struggled with discussing them. But in 3 months I was able to easily go through a job interview! I haven’t even realised when I became such confident! And James provided me with useful idioms, such expressions that natives use, like “I’m in between jobs” instead of “I don’t work currently”. Also, I want to mention that James is an incredibly interesting person to talk to! He has more than 20 years of travelling experience and so many brilliant stories to tell from there! So I’m very happy that I could learn from him!

Джеймс Монк- потрясающий человек с прекрасным чувством юмора и умением найти общий язык с такой специфичной категорией учеников, как маленькие дети! Всем известно, что обучать маленьких детей очень непростая задача, особенно, если английский язык не является родным для ребенка. Моему сыну 6 лет, и его родной язык – русский. Поэтому, когда несколько месяцев назад он начал изучать английский язык, у меня были сомнения и опасения, сможет ли он получить хорошие знания занимаясь с педагогом – носителем английского языка. Но нам очень повезло, потому что мы нашли Джеймса! Он очень умный и профессиональный педагог и истинный джентльмен. Благодаря своему огромному опыту преподавания, терпению, позитиву и желанию добиться результата, Джеймс смог заинтересовать ребенка и помог ему полюбить английский язык. Уроки проходят очень весело, легко, а главное, плодотворно и результативно. Знания, которые ребенок получил за достаточно короткий срок обучения, меня очень радуют – ребенок выучил много слов из разных сфер жизни (семья, окружающий мир, дни недели и месяцы, приборы быта, животный мир и тд), научился считать до 100 и дальше, умеет вести простые диалоги, читать простые тексты. Очень важно, что ребенок с нетерпением ждет следующего урока с Джеймсом. Будем заниматься дальше, так как такой педагог ка Джеймс Монк – большая редкость! Спасибо тебе, Джеймс!

James Monk is an amazing person with a great sense of humor and the ability to find a common language with such a specific category of students as small children! Everyone knows that teaching young children is a very difficult task, especially if English is not the native language of the child. My son is 6 years old and his native language is Russian. Therefore, when a few months ago he began to study English, I had doubts and fears whether he would be able to get good knowledge while studying with a teacher – a native English speaker. But we are very lucky because we met James! He is a very smart and professional teacher and a true gentleman. Thanks to his vast teaching experience, patience, positivity, and desire to achieve results, James was able to interest the child and helped him to love the English language. The lessons are very entertaining, easy to percieve, and, what is most important, fruitful, and effective. The knowledge that the child received in a fairly short period of study makes me very happy – he learned many words from different spheres of life (family, the world around, days of the week and months, household appliances, the animal world, etc.), learned to count to 100 and beyond, knows how to conduct simple dialogues, read simple texts. It is very important that the child looks forward to each next lesson with James. We will continue to study since such a teacher like James Monk is a rarity! Thank you, James!

Мне очень нравится в Джеймсе сочетание профессионализма с человеческим отношениям. Мы всерьез занимаемся грамматикой и лексикой (я готовлюсь к Кембриджскому экзамену), но при этом можем и немного просто поболтать. Джеймс всегда слышит пожелания учеников и готов подстроиться. А еще он учит правильному «английскому» английскому.

What I like most in James is a combination of professionalism with a personal approach. We do study grammar and vocabulary quire seriously (I am preparing to the Cambridge English exam), but may sometimes just chat a bit also. James is always ready to hear what a student wants and adjust. And also he teaches true “English” English.

I like lessons with James, they are not as academic as I used to think they should be due to my experience in high school. The main purpose of my learning English is fluent native speech and clear understanding of my vis-à-vis’s speech. James changes the format of lessons regularly and implements new types of tasks in order to diversify and define the optimum ones for the individual needs of his student. It’s quite interesting and useful when we start to discuss unexpectable (from my side) topics and I need to immediately activate rarely used words and expressions from my mind to be able to explain my position or my opinion on the matter. Every time it is a small challenge for me.
