When I started learning English with James my speaking skills were so poor, that I asked him to work on General English instead of Marketing. I felt very uncomfortable while speaking. Months were passing by, James was providing me with such complex topics, which I almost never speak about in Russian. I struggled with discussing them. But in 3 months I was able to easily go through a job interview! I haven’t even realised when I became such confident! And James provided me with useful idioms, such expressions that natives use, like “I’m in between jobs” instead of “I don’t work currently”. Also, I want to mention that James is an incredibly interesting person to talk to! He has more than 20 years of travelling experience and so many brilliant stories to tell from there! So I’m very happy that I could learn from him!

Мне очень нравится в Джеймсе сочетание профессионализма с  человеческим отношениям. Мы всерьез занимаемся грамматикой и лексикой (я готовлюсь к Кембриджскому экзамену), но при этом можем и немного просто поболтать. Джеймс всегда слышит пожелания учеников и готов подстроиться. А еще он учит правильному «английскому» английскому.

What I like most in James is a combination of professionalism with a personal approach. We do study grammar and vocabulary quire seriously (I am preparing to the Cambridge English exam), but may sometimes just chat a bit also. James is always ready to hear what a student wants and adjust. And also he teaches true “English” English.

I like lessons with James, they are not as academic as I used to think they should be due to my experience in high school. The main purpose of my learning English is fluent native speech and clear understanding of my vis-à-vis’s speech. James changes the format of lessons regularly and implements new types of tasks in order to diversify and define the optimum ones for the individual needs of his student. It’s quite interesting and useful when we start to discuss unexpectable (from my side) topics and I need to immediately activate rarely used words and expressions from my mind to be able to explain my position or my opinion on the matter. Every time it is a small challenge for me.
